As a mother, it is our basic instinct to care for our family and protect our young.
Sometimes, we forget about ourselves, our needs and our wants as a result of that. Many of us probably don't even put ourselves in priority over certain situations which may overwhelm or sink us deeper into emotional turmoil. It is only until the day that we feel our bodies are too battered and our minds overloaded with others' but ourselves that we cry for a break.
I have heard that for moms to perform their roles to its optimum, it is essential that we take care of ourselves before we can take care of others. I think it's a fair statement. Especially for stay-at-home-moms like me. Sometimes, I envy mothers who work because to me, working itself is taking a break from the family. There is socialism (in real life), there are congregational meals with friends or even a quick solo shopping over lunch.
So, what makes you tick? Here's sharing my listing of the 7 simple pleasures I would like to have for a happy, fruitful and positive me!
- An off-day once a month
- A leisurely full English breakfast at a quiet coffee house with the hubs
- Full spa treatment
- SHOPPING alone
- Attend a baking class (or several, depending what interests me)
- Hi-tea with friends, complete with tai tai overalls
- A short weekend getaway with girlfriends (wishful but hopeful)
There! The simple girly pleasures that would keep me going. It's not over the top, is it? *grin*
I would also love to hear what are the 7 pleasures in your list that you would love to do or are already doing, to recharge your batteries! It will be interesting to know how another mother's needs may differ from mine.
