Please Mr Postman, Send This to Heaven For Me?

Dear dad,

I wonder how it's like to celebrate your birthday in Heaven;
you would be 73 years old today.
 Though you are not here with us;
you are in our thoughts in every step of the way.

What's it like in Heaven, dad?
I'm sure you're happy and well.
Though you are unseen and unheard;
We know you are always near - we can tell.

 We understand why you were taken to a better place;
but truth is, it is hard for us not to feel down.
So we think of you fondly all the time;
you live in our hearts and you are always around.

As I imagine you looking down at us today;
the smile upon your face makes everything okay.
Thank you dad and for all it's worth;
here's wishing you a heavenly birthday, with hugs and kisses from earth.

Till the next post, have a blessed week!

  2. I've always felt, that the best poems are written when one is sad or distressed. That was a lovely poem and I'm sure your Dad would agree with me. *hugz*

  3. I can so identify with what you wrote. My dad has passed away for 5 years and I always think of him. Sometimes I talk to him in my heart. I guess we will never stop missing our dads until the day we return to heaven and meet again.

  5. Totally understand how u feel, the grief might ease over time but u will never stop missing his presence. I believe that the our loved ones in Christ who leave early are the ones that are extremely special in God's eyes, these are the ones who have completed wat God set for them to do n are in God's loving arms. ''No eyes have seen, no ear have heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.' 1 Corinthians 2:9 I will not b surprised that your dad (youthful, strong n healthy version) is grinning from ear to ear exclaiming that he can't wait to show u wat wondrous n magnificent things that he is experiencing in his eternal home.

    1. Thanks Rach, for sharing the verse with me. It is no doubt that my dad is youthful and healthy in His kingdom because that's what we see in every single dream we have of him. :)

  7. I read the title, and I teared up... :(

    I want to tell you that it will be fine,
    I want to tell you that time will heal.
    But sometimes words cannot sufficiently describe
    Exactly how we feel.

    Just know that (as much as we do)
    As parents go...
    He will always be there with you,
    Caring for you, and loving you.

    With loved ones,
    They never really leave our side.

  8. 5 months, 5 years or mine 7 years (i think so, ok i know my memory sux), it does not make a different, we still miss them. Time will not make the pain lesser or make it go away it will however enable us to think of them from time to time and that makes us cry, wanting to be with them again or cry when we remember those happy times we share or the silly things we do to cheer them up.

    Be strong Adeline!

    1. Thanks for sharing yours too, Jenn. I guess vulnerability happens when its a special occasion and you wish your loved one is physically here with you. Memories are made to last a lifetime and that's about the only thing we can hold on to when they go.

    2. You can spend it in a meaningful way too. To grief is a way to miss him but celebrate it with things you know he will like this day to be.
